Defeating negative self talk with Truth

Matt Fradd shared these negative statements we might find the enemy whispering in our ears. Let us refute his lies with Truth!

1) "I am not good enough."
Scripture: "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." - Psalm 139:14

2) "I can't do anything right."
Scripture: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." - Philippians 4:13

3) "No one loves me."
Scripture: "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." - Romans 8:38-39

4) "I am worthless."
Scripture: "Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows." - Luke 12:6-7

5) "I am a failure."
Scripture: "The LORD upholds all who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down." - Psalm 145:14

6) "Things will never get better."
Scripture: "'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the LORD, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'" - Jeremiah 29:11

7) "I am alone."
Scripture: "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you." - Deuteronomy 31:6

7 Lessons from Whitewater Rafting
(or How to Remain at Peace When You Are Afraid), by Kitty Cleveland

7 Life Lessons from Whitewater Rafting
(or How to Remain at Peace When You’re Afraid)

by Kitty Cleveland

Years ago I joined some friends in a thrilling whitewater rafting excursion down the frigid Snake River in Jackson Hole, WY. I had rafted down the Nantahala River in North Carolina many times in the past (once getting trapped under the raft), and I’d even rafted this river before in a large raft. But this time was different.

This time I ended up being assigned the front of a little two-person duckie with a wisp of a woman steering in back. Seriously, I easily had about six inches and 60 pounds on her. I hollered out to our fearless leader on the big, safe raft next to us, "Shouldn't I be in the back of this thing?" She assured me that my strength would be needed to power through the danger up ahead. That's when I started praying. Lesson 1: ALWAYS ACKNOWLEDGE GOD FIRST.
